Operator: Mbalabala Safaris Client: Brian ( Umdende Safaris) PH: Mike Curse you, I whispered under my breath as I slowly sipped the last of my coffee, hoping it would wash down the pressure and stress I was currently experiencing. The full moon in its bright glory had made a mockery of me and no mater what I tried, could not get a male leopard to eat on any of my baits during the course of my previous safari. I had started pre-baiting a week prior to that first safari with so
It all began when Stewart came to see Mbalabala Safaris in Las Vegas . Being a emergency medical doctor, Stewart could not come to Africa for the full length of a leopard hunt so I cut a deal that could not be passed. April saw the arrival of Stewart for his fourth leopard hunt the previous three to no avail. Not even a male feed. Baits had been out five to six days already so a little ground work had been done. Twelve baits out in the Marula district took the entire morning
Ph – Chap Client – Clint Outfitter: Martin Pieters Safaris Clint arrived in cold windy Bulawayo on a 15 day Leopard Safari, which took us 3 hours drive south of Bulawayo. We arrived at camp that evening, settled down and had a warm comforting meal to prepare us for the next day ahead. After zeroing the rifle we set off in search of bait animals as it was our intention to get them all out that day. I intended to hang 8 baits to give us the optimum chance of a good male leopar
PH – Mike Blignaut Operator : Martin Pieters Safaris Client: Rinat This was Rinat’s third safari and our main purpose was to check baits and assist the other hunting party whose main animal was a leopard and elephant. On the first day, we went and checked some of the baits that had been hung prior to Rinat’s arrival. We hung 3 new baits and refreshed and redragged. I had seen some buffalo tracks in the Jonga River and decided to follow after checking all the other baits. We f
Waking up freezing the coffee was tasting extra good. The other PH and my client's friend were back with no luck. The is a clever cat.
Whilst having some breakfast and discussing their next trip the clients opted to leave the next day and head to Victoria Falls for a few days before the long trip home. So we managed to organise a charter plane the following day. A great safari was had and alot of luck was on their side. #Omay #Chap #Leopard #VictoriaFalls
Waking up and chatting to the other PH about the leopard, he had left the blind at 9.30pm. Nothing had fed yet. They went and hunted a buffalo while myself and my client checked other baits for them. They managed to get a good buffalo bull. They got word the leopard fed after they left. My Client and I drove around in the afternoon enjoying the fresh air asthe other PH and my client's friend were in a blind again. Dinner was great. Tender sirloin steaks.
We will hopefully be
6am came quick as a long night sleep was had. Myself and the other ph went to see what had happened at the bait. On arrival it had been eaten. Me being Mr Clever here forgot to put on the camera. Anyways a good track was found and they built a blind for that afternoon. My client and I drove around the area to try find fresh buffalo tracks. None were found ..
Having dinner and waiting up a bit we eventually went to bed.. #Chap #Omay #Leopard #Buffalo
We had coffee and breakfast then went across the concession to check baits for the other crew while they hunted buffalo. A leopard had eaten so we put up a motion camera. There was a lot of meat left so it could feed a few more days.
Back in camp that evening the other crew had seen buffalo but never got that lucky as to kill one.
Buffalo steaks were well appreciated and a good rest was had #Chap #Omay #Buffalo #Leopard
With nothing remaining on my client's list our day was not rushed. We got up at 6 had some breakfast and coffee and drove two hours to some other leopard baits. We were gonna check them for the other PH and My Client's friend. They still got a leopard to get. They went in the opposite direction to check a few other baits. Returning to camp by lunch time we had a great meal and had decided to try make a new road along a boundary river. Doing very well managing to open just a li
